Kirill Alekseenko, born June 22, 1997 in St. Petersburg. Grandmaster since 2015. His peak rating is 2715 (as of November 2019). His current rating being 2696 (as of April 2021), he is number forty one in the world and number eleven in Russia.
He is a U14 world junior champion of 2011 and a Russian Cup winner of 2018.
Kirill is the youngest participant in the Candidates. The St. Petersburg player's most prominent success is the third place in the FIDE Grand Swiss at the Isle of Man, behind Wang Hao and Fabiano Caruana. This success allowed Alekseenko to become a nominee from the host country.
